Easy Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal

Hearty oats, smooth creamy peanut butter and chocolate come together in this easy-to-make breakfast meal. The sweetness come from the bananas, but if you're not a banana person you can add a little maple syrup or honey for sweetener.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cups milk
  • 1 cups water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • sliced banana, chopped almonds, red grapes (optional)

METHOD

  • Whisk together milk, water, cocoa powder, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a sauce pot over medium heat. When bubbles begin to form around the edges, add oats and stir.
  • Bring oats to a low boil then reduce heat to low. Cook until liquid is absorbed and oats are chewy, 5-6 minutes.
  • While oatmeal is cooking, heat the peanut butter in the microwave until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  • You can ladle oatmeal into bowls and drizzle with peanut butter and top with banana, almonds, and grapes. Or, if you're eating on the go, layer oatmeal, bananas, peanut butter and toppings in mason jars.
